Who we are

The Educating GP is operated by NextWave Creators Limited (registered in England and Wales, company number 16445595; registered office 167-169 Great Portland Street, 5th Floor, London, W1W 5PF), which is the data controller for this website. You can contact us about your data at hello@theeducatinggp.com.

What we collect

  • Newsletter: your email address when you subscribe. Sign-up is handled by our newsletter provider, Beehiiv.
  • Emails you send us: your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message.
  • Analytics: if analytics is switched on and you accept it, Google Analytics cookies and information about how you use the site, such as pages visited.
  • Hosting logs: standard technical records our hosting provider keeps when any website is visited, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested.
  • Course enrolment: when enrolment is open, the details you give at checkout, handled by Thinkific and Stripe.

This site does not collect health information. Please do not send us personal medical details. We cannot give personal medical advice.

Why we use it and our lawful basis

  • Sending the newsletter: your consent. You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email.
  • Analytics: your consent, given with the “Accept analytics” button. Nothing is collected if you decline.
  • Keeping the site secure and running: our legitimate interests in operating a safe, working website.
  • Replying to your emails: our legitimate interests in answering people who contact us.
  • Providing a course you buy: to perform our contract with you.

Who we share it with

We use these providers to run the site. We never sell your data.

  • Beehiiv for the newsletter.
  • Vercel for website hosting.
  • Cloudflare for domain name (DNS) services and for email routing: messages sent to hello@theeducatinggp.com pass through Cloudflare, which forwards them to our mailbox.
  • Google for our email mailbox (Gmail), which stores the emails you send us, and for Google Analytics, only if you accept analytics. Emailing us does not depend on analytics consent.
  • Thinkific and Stripe for course checkout and payment, only when enrolment is open.

International transfers

Some of our providers process personal data outside the UK, mainly in the United States. Vercel (hosting), Google (our email mailbox, and analytics only if you accept) and Stripe (payments, when enrolment opens) are certified under the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (the ‘UK-US data bridge’), which UK law recognises as giving adequate protection. Cloudflare (DNS and email routing) is also certified; its recertification is currently under review, and its contract with us provides that UK-approved standard contractual clauses apply if that certification lapses. Beehiiv (newsletter, United States) and, when enrolment opens, Thinkific (course platform, Canada) protect transfers with the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses together with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

You can read each safeguard in the provider’s data processing terms — Vercel, Beehiiv, Cloudflare, Google (analytics), Google (Gmail), Stripe, Thinkific — and check certifications on the Data Privacy Framework List. You can also ask us for a copy at hello@theeducatinggp.com.

How long we keep it

  • Newsletter: while you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your details, we delete them within 30 days, unless you ask us to keep a minimal record so we do not email you again.
  • Analytics: if analytics is switched on and you accept it, user-level and event-level data is set to be deleted after 2 months. Google keeps aggregated statistics that do not identify you. Google Analytics does not log or store the IP addresses of UK users.
  • Hosting logs: our hosting provider keeps basic request logs (such as the page requested and the time) for a short period — between 1 hour and 30 days depending on the hosting plan. We do not export or keep copies of them.
  • Emails you send us: as long as we need to deal with your enquiry, then deleted within 12 months, unless we need them for a legal claim.
  • Course purchases: enrolment is not open yet. We will update this section before it opens; Stripe and Thinkific keep payment records to meet their own legal obligations.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, correct it, have it erased, restrict how we use it, receive a copy in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out with your consent before you withdrew it. To use any of these rights, email hello@theeducatinggp.com.

Your right to object

Where we use your data on the basis of our legitimate interests (for example, keeping the website secure or replying to your emails), you have the right to object at any time. We will stop unless we have compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, or we need the data for a legal claim. You also have an absolute right to object to direct marketing: you can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in every email, or by emailing hello@theeducatinggp.com, and we will stop.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Cookies

We do not set any non-essential cookies unless you accept them. The only non-essential cookies this site can use are Google Analytics cookies, which help us understand how the site is used. Google Analytics is currently switched off, so the site sets no analytics cookies.

If analytics is switched on in future, you will be asked first, and you will be able to change your choice at any time with "Analytics preferences" in the site footer. If you withdraw consent, we stop collecting analytics straight away. Analytics cookies already set on your device are not removed by us; they expire on their own, or you can delete them in your browser settings.

Medical boundary

This website provides general health education only. It does not store or request personal medical records for diagnosis or treatment.
